Searching for Health Information

A significant time of medical practice involve in processing information and one key element is searching for information. We search for information by reading books and journals, newspapers etc.

However in this current era we search for most types of information digitally, using the World Wide Web (WWW). We use search engines for WWW searches.  There are general search engines and specific search engines. Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo are typical of general search engines that we use to search any and all kinds of information. 

For professionals there are specific kinds of  search engines such as Google Scholar that search for scholarly articles. 

Furthermore, there are specific search engines for healthcare information. They search for specific databases such as Medline, Embase, PsychInfo, Cochrane Library. Health specific data for lay persons are Medline Plus, Healthdirect  and NHS for public.
